Ludhiana, February 2, 2017: The Department of Physical Education of Ramgarhia Girls College and Ludhiana Pedallers Club organised an event wherein the Triathlete, Carmen Mickley interacted with the students of the Department and the members of LPC. Principal, Dr Inderjit Kaur, President of Ramgarhia Educational Council, S Ranjodh Singh, General Secretary, S Jagtar Singh, Head of the Dept. of Physical Education, Mrs Rajeshwarpal Kaur and her teammate, Mrs Jasvir Kaur, accorded her a floral welcome. In his welcome address S Ranjodh Singh said: “Carmen Mickley is on Vegan World Friendship Tour and in her journey, she is going to pass through 50 countries, covering about 60,000 kms. She has already visited 27 countries and covered about 29,500 kms. Since she has reached Ludhiana now, we did not want to miss the opportunity to learn from her mission as well as her experience of cycling through different countries.” While talking to the gathering, Carmen Mickley averred: “Through this tour, I wish to raise awareness about veganism, animal rights, animal welfare and protection of environment. Most of the people are unaware that the dairy products they consume are laden with chemicals and urea. If we switch to vegan diet, we can save ourselves from many dreadful diseases and also protect the environment.” After the lecture, she addressed the queries of students. While admiring her mission and the spirit with which she has undertaken it, Principal, Dr Inderjit Kaur said: “We commend her enthusiasm and love for cycling. The cycling wing of the college has added many feathers to the hat of Ramgarhia Girls College and we are certain that the visit of Carmen Mickley will inspire our cyclists to follow in her footsteps and better their best.” S Jagtar Singh extended a vote of thanks and gave her his best wishes for her future endeavours.
