SPEAK & ICCR ORGANISE COMEDY PLAYS 'TAMASHA MOTYAN DA' & 'HELLO, HELLO' TO HIGHLIGHT IMPORTANCE OF 'HEALTHY LIVING'
Chandigarh, September 8, 2018: Indian council of cultural Relations, Government of India in collaboration with SPEAK India (Society for Promotion of Ethical & Affordable health Care) and Punjab Art Council organized two short plays at Randhawa Auditorium, Sector 16 here. The plays conveyed the simple message of SPEAK ‘Health or Disease-choice is yours’ and doctors have hardly any role in this. Mr.Puneet Goyal(IAS), Special Secretary (Health), Punjab Government was the Chief Guest. The first play ‘Tamasha Motyan da’ dealt with problems of obesity, white poisons -foods like white flour, salt , sugar etc and abuse of drugs in a forceful manner. The plot of the story was set in a police station where the corrupt and fat 'Daroga' is the victim of obesity and consequent health problems like high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. He is frequently trolled and counseled by his deputy to reduce weight with a slogan ‘Vajan Ghatao te taraki pao, vajan badhao te ghar nu jao’ The second play ‘Hello,Hello’ depicted how a smart phone addiction can lead to loss of interest of person addicted to these in people, relationships and even one's job. The play It leads to loss of smartness and health as well and one becomes a ‘Kambla’ for all practical purposes. Speaking on the occasion Dr. R.Kumar President of SPEAK India observed how simple health tips like regular exercise, yoga, plenty of water intake, adequate sleep, natural wholesome foods and stress free mind can keep you healthy and away from doctors. He emphasized that controlling the use of salt, sugar, white flour, white rice, drugs of all kinds and restricted use of mobile phones can reduce the incidence of obesity and keep the population disease- free. Two dozen experienced artists led by Ikattar Singh from Amritsar Kala Kendra put up a brilliant performance. Other prominent actors were Harvinder Aujla, Jasveer Kumar, Prabhdeep Kaur and Gagandeep kaur Through the hilarious play 'Tamasha Motyan Da' in Punjabi, humour and entertainment were created, but the play give a solid message of pathos embedded in the theme of the play i.e misery, disease and death related to obesity and its underlying causative factors like consumption of white poisons and excessive use of mobiles.
