Ludhiana, August 14, 2015: Sociology Department of Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana organised a “Social Awareness Drive” on Friday. The students made elaborate PowerPoint Presentations on various topics. These presentations stressed that the changing dynamic world is responsible to a large extent for giving rise to various social problems. Among them are Gender Bias, Rising Drug Addiction among girls and Corruption in Indian Society. These problems are subjective in nature which depends on Culture and Customs of a Country. This Social Awareness Drive about these problems was an attempt to educate and to prepare young women to accept the need to change the social situations and the mind set up of our society. As a determined willingness to change comes from within a society i.e. from the young generation.
Judges for the event were Mrs. Simarjit Grewal from deptt. of Hindi, Mrs. Sabina Bhalla from deptt. of English. The students who were awarded various prizes were:

3 Ritu Kalia & Bharti Sikka
4 Khushboo Dawar (Consolation Prize)
College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill appreciated the whole hearted effort and encouraged the students to spread awareness in the college and Society. She motivated the students to become agents of Social change to eradicate these social evil from the society.
