Panchkula, October 21, 2014: SMD Little Champ Smart School, Panchkula organised “Pollution Free Diwali” in their school campus. Students decorated the entire school with beautiful rangolis, made out of fresh flowers. They painted the traditional diyas and candles. Lakshmi puja was performed. Students enacted a play on Lord Rama’s life and teachings.
The teachers explained to the students that they should avoid fireworks as they display poisonous gases due to which people start feeling choked. Moreover fire crackers not only cause air pollution but also create noise pollution which annoy animals.
Director Naresh Gupta said, “Energy saved is energy produced. Avoid using electric lights but use earthen lamps to light up your houses Indulge in sharing happiness with near and dear ones. Spread the message of unity and brotherhood on Diwali.”
