Seven day Inter University Faculty Development programme-me started at PU

Chandigarh, December 15, 2014: Week long Inter-Disciplinary Faculty Development Programme-me started at the Panjab University (PU), Chandigarhon Monday. The Department of Life Long Learning and Extension, Panjab University (PU) Chandigarh is organizing the programme which would conclude on December 21. As many as twenty faculty members from the PU and colleges are attending.

Inaugurating the programme, PU Department of Psychology Jatinder Mohan (Emeritus) said that Faculty Development Programmes would help the teachers to excel their potentials among students and also improve their excellence in teaching by sharing their experiences with other faculty members. He said that fundamental concept of teaching and opportunity, which would be taught by experts and shared with co-participants, would go long way to improve the methods of teaching and research.

Department of History Rajiv Lochan discussed qualitative research in social sciences.  He emphasised that qualitative research was different from quantitative research. He explained how qualitative research could help the society in molding attitudes, behaviour and values in the society. 

Director U.I.A.M.S. Prof. Sanjeev Sharma discussed in length on the topic of Motivating and Self Others and how motivation would help in management and improving the working system in the Institutions.

Department of Statistics Kanchan K.Jain discussed the role in statistics in social sciences and how SPS software could help in the analysis part of the research.

How quantitative data would help in the field of research and making conclusions and recommendations with regard to research problems in social sciences, Prof Jain added. 

Chairperson of the Department Renu Gandhi welcomed the Guest of Honour and participants. She highlighted the objective of the programme.

Prof. Sween from the Department welcomed the guest of honour . She said that education and research are part and parcel of faculty and this programme is a step towards research in social sciences.
