Senior journalist Daya Nath Singh passes away

Guwahati: Senior journalist Daya Nath Singh passed away this afternoon after a brief illness. Singh, 82, was associated with various newspapers like NewsStar, NewsFront, NortheastDaily and lately he used to contribute news based articles for various media outlets like EasternPanorama, Merinews, AssamTimes etc.
Hailed from Bihar, Singh left behind his wife, five daughters and a host of relatives. A resident of Birubari locality of Guwahati was also associated with Guwahati Press Club as its office secretary for the last 15 years. He was admitted with some ailments at GMC hospital today morning and his health deteriorated.
Singh breathed his last at 4 pm on Sunday. His cremation will take place tomorrow (29 January) and prior to that he will be offered tribute by the journalists with others at 10.30 am at the press club premises (Ambari).
Guwahati Press Club along with various scribes’ bodies including All Assam Photo Journalist Association, Journalists’ Forum Assam, Electronic Media Forum Assam, Northeast Union of Working Journalists etc expressed profound grief at his demise and paid condolences to the bereaved family.
