The tricity eminent doctors pose for a group photo after being honoured in an award function organised by Senior Citizens Welfare Association, Manimajra at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College for Boys (SGGSC) , Sector 26 , Chandigarh on Saturday .

Chandigarh, July 26, 2014: The Senior Citizens Welfare Association, Manimajra organised a special awards function to honour tricity eminent doctors at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College for Boys (SGGSC), Sector 26 here today. Maj Gen Atul Sharma, AVSM, MG Medical was Chief Guest during the occasion. Earlier around 50 students from Institute for the Blind, Sector 26 played the band to welcome the doctors.  
The Association is observing July as doctor’s month. The doctors and specialists from various fields of medicine and various specialties were felicitated for their exemplary work in the field of medicine and service to mankind.
Dr Manuj Wadhwa, Dr Sananda Bag, Dr Sudheer Saxena and Dr Seema Wadhwa from Max Super Specialities Hospital, Mohali were awarded for their contribution in the field of Orthopaedics, Kidney Transplant, Cardiology and Gynaecology  respectively. Dr Ankur Luthra from AIIMS, Dr Ashwani Kumar from CGHS, Dr Sunil K Arora and Dr Santosh Kumar from PGIMER, Col Sashivadhan and Lt Col Manoj Prasher from Command Hospital, Chandi Mandir were also honoured during occasion.
A special award was conferred on Jaswinder Kaur, Principal, College of Pharmacy, Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh.
Speaking during occasion, Amrit Dhingra, President of Sr Citizens Welfare Association, Manimajra said that we were genuinely indebted to the medical fraternity for their contribution in trying to make the society disease free. It was an honour to us today to felicitate these great medical minds who were selflessly serving the public without bothering about their own comfort. These awards have been instituted in recognition of the exemplary work that our doctors do in their respective fields, he remarked.
Maj Gen Atul Sharma , AVSM, MG Medical said that touching lives, showing compassion, providing quality healthcare everyday was what our doctors did as a part of their routine lives. This was a platform to give credence to the skill and commitment of these doctors. Today we were saluting our real heroes, he asserted.
The citation of each of the doctors was read out by S C Luthra, Organising Secretary of Association and the ceremony was conducted by Col. Gurusewak Singh, Secretary, Public Relations of Association.
