Scolari shouldn't take all the blame for 1-7 nightmare: Thiago Silva

Brasilia, July 12 (IANS) Brazil captain Thiago Silva insists that it is unfair to ask Luiz Felipe Scolari to take full responsibility for the humiliating 1-7 loss to Germany in the FIFA World Cup semifinals.

Scolari has been widely criticised after Brazil suffered their worst-ever defeat at the hands of Joachim Low's side, reports Xinhua.

But when Silva was asked about Scolari's future, he gave the full support to the 65-year-old who guided Brazil to victory at the 2002 World Cup.

"We really trust our coach. We are a unit, so everybody has the responsibility for the mistake. Our coach has his part to blame, so do we." said the Paris Saint Germain's defender Friday.

"We lost ourselves in the first half and conceded four goals in six minutes which led us to a tragic ending. It's something that won't happen again in the next 100 years," Silva added.

Brazil will face the Netherlands in a third-place playoff in Brasilia Saturday and Silva, who missed the semifinal due to suspension, is set to start as the captain to lead his team to restore their pride.

"The third place is not the original objective that we are fighting for but when you are a player of Brazil you should respect all matches," Silva said.

"We had an unacceptable defeat in last match but I think we can turn this page and move on."
