Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled launches Braille & Audio Library in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, January 7, 2016: Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled expands to Telangana and launched Braille & Audio Library here in city at Picket near Jubilee Bus Station on Friday.

Mr.Mahantesh, founder of the trust is recipient of NDTV Spirit of Sport Award for 2011, in the Against the Odds - Lifetime Achievement category inaugurated the Braille & Audio Library.

The newly opened branch of Samarthanam launched a Braille & Audio Library in its premises in picket in Secunderabad. This is the second facility after Bangalore to have Braille & Audio Library. Similar facilities will also be inaugurated in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Chennai, Kochi and other places, the release informed.

Samarthanama, a Bangalore based NGO expanded to Telangana and opened its new branch in Secunderabad.

The objective of the project is to ensure easy access to Braille books, besides which the initiative also aims at encouraging Braille reading and writing amongst the visually impaired students, helping them develop language proficiency.

Samarthanama is a decade old trust, has been working to empower the visually impaired, disabled and underprivileged through developmental initiatives focusing on educational, social, economic, cultural and technological aspects.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Mahantesh G K, Founder Managing Trustee, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled and President, Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) said, “Glad to be expanding to another important city of the country with a vision of making a difference in the lives of differently abled children. We intend to set up a state of the art learning centre, design and implement many more disabled friendly programmes in the near future. We are thankful to the proactive interest shown by the Government of Telangana. Looking forward to their partnership in promoting this noble cause”.
