Ludhiana, March 29, 2015: A mega free Medical & Heart Check up camp was organised by Dayanand Medical College & Hospital & its unit – Hero DMC Heart Institute today in association with Sidh Peeth Sansthan at Dandi Swami Mandir, Ludhiana. Doctors participated in the camp were Dr.Sandeep Puri (Principal DMCH), Dr.G.S Wander, Chief Cardiologist HDHI, Dr.Suman Puri, Dr. Manikant Singla & Dr. Rohit Tandon
More than 300 patients benefited from the camp. The camps facilitate detection of various heart ailments like high blood pressure, coronary artery disease & common diseases amongst general population, as well as follow-up of patients treated earlier in the camp.
“For the right diet, one should eat less fat, less sodium, fewer calories and more fiber. Aerobic exercises-- like swimming, cycling and brisk walking-- increases blood levels of endorphins and nitric oxide, brings physical and mental relaxation and a feeling of well being. The hardest part of an exercise routine is getting started. Once you've established a regular pattern of exercise, you'll find yourself following it,” - Said Dr. Sandeep Puri.
Counselling the patients on the occasion, Dr Wander advised them to regularly monitor their blood pressure and blood sugar. “These two health parameters, if kept within acceptable limits, will help you in preventing a host of health complications.
Regular monitoring followed by the relevant modifications in lifestyle or medication are needed to keep one’s BP within acceptable standards. In the initial stages, lifestyle and diet modification may suffice in controlling one’s BP but if medication becomes necessary it must be taken regularly,” said Dr.G.S Wander.
Investigation like ECG, Blood Sugar & Medicines distributed free of cost to all patients in the camp.
