REVIEW MEETING ON STEPS TAKEN TO CHECK ACTIVITIES RELATED TO ANTI-DRUG CAMPAIGN HELD
ADGP SPECIAL TASK FORCE CHAIRS MEETING WITH POLICE & CIVIL OFFICIALS OF DISTRICT LUDHIANA TODAY Ludhiana, April 16, 2019: ADGP Special Task Force Mrs Gurpreet Kaur Deo today reviewed the progress of steps taken by police and civil officials of district Ludhiana to check drug menace in the district. During the meeting, she urged the police officials, civil officials and teachers etc to ensure that all stakeholders work in tandem so that the issue of drugs is checked from the grassroots level. Today’s review meeting was held to check the progress of the Buddy Programme. She was also accompanied by IG STF Mr Promod Ban, AIG STF Mr Sneh Deep Sharma, besides several others. While addressing the officers, the ADGP STF said that dedicated efforts are required to check drug menace and maximum registration under DAPO programme should be done. She urged that along with other sections of society, special emphasis should be given towards youth. She directed all SDM’s to visit OOAT clinics in their respective areas on regular intervals. The Master Trainers and Hospital authorities were directed to ensure proper care of people coming to drug de-addiction centres for treatment and along with medicines, proper counselling by experts should be carried out so that they shun drugs permanently. The SDMs and master trainers said that for effectivity of this anti-drug campaign, sarpanches/panches, asha workers and prominent persons would also be roped in. They also suggested that drug de-addiction mobile units should also be set up so that the drug addicts are provided treatment, medicines and counselling at their doorsteps. The ADGP assured that she would raise this issue with the senior officials. She also directed the master trainers to work wholeheartedly for the success of this campaign. She directed the education department officials that to ensure that students remain away from drugs, students should be made aware during free time. On this occasion, the ADGP also interacted with the DAPO students from Government Senior Secondary School, Cemetery Road, who were also present. Prominent among those present in the meeting included Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, SSP Ludhiana Rural Mr Varinder Singh Brar, ADC (General) Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu, all SDMs, besides senior officials from health, education and other government departments.
