Clarion call by the CPI and CPI(M) at a state level rally
Ludhiana, January 28, 2019: The policies of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government at the behest of RSS have subverted Indian democracy, wrecked its pluralistic culture, undermined the spirit of Indian Constitution, pauperized the workers, vandalized the secular fabric, perpetrated caste apartheid - in essence have brought the nation to the verge of virtual destruction. Time has come now to overthrow this government and thwart their nefarious designs. This was the call given by various leaders at a state level rally held at Ludhiana today.
The ‘BJP Hatao- Desh Bachao’ rally was attended by thousands people from all over the state who were carrying banners, mottos, placards and shouting slogans against the anti-people, anti-worker policies of the government.
Addressing the rally central leaders Com. Sita Ram Yechury-General Secretary CPI (M), Com D Raja –CPI Rajya Sabha MP said that Modi government has utterly failed in keeping his election promises that had catapulted him to power. The report card of 4 years of Modi government draws a blatant blank projecting a negative performance in checking price rise, creation of jobs, agricultural growth, industrial growth, unearthing black money etc. The dramatic move of demonetization by Narendra‘ Modi has been a ‘colossal damage’ to Indian economy resulting in closure of several lakhs of Small and Medium Enterprises and loss of jobs to millions of workers. Independent surveys have shown that in a span of few months after demonetization about 2 lakh and 34 thousand units closed resulting into loss of 70 lakh jobs. The way GST was implemented further perpetuated the situation. With this flawed GST small traders and business were hard hit. Doles were given to the corporates by reducing their tax slabs; Farmers have been cheated on false promises. Because of non-return of loans by the corporates the nonperforming assets of the banks have been increasing. But instead of recovering them the government is waiving them off hitting the economy hard. To bail out the failed corporates the government intends to take the reserve money from the RBI. This has been opposed by two previous governors of the RBI. The government is telling lies on the sanctioning of Mudra Loan. Their bogey of fight against corruption has been fully exposed by the Rafale deal and other cases like Nirav Modi, Vijay Malya, amassing wealth by Amit shah’s son etc. None of the schemes announced by them has shown any tangible results. Ayshman Bharat is just another way to give doles to the private insurance companies and the corporate sector.
Mr. Modi is the instrument to perpetuate the ideological agenda of RSS. It is this divisive communal Hindutva agenda that is used to polarize Indian masses on the basis of religion. This is dangerous. This has to be fought tooth and. Issues like ‘Gharvapsi’, ‘love jihad’ etc. are reflection of Sangh Parivar’s ideological understanding to divide the society. But the youth in India have begun to reject the Hindutva ideology of RSS BJP combine. It is the RSS which is operating the government. out the recent events at Bulandshehar are a pointer to their ulterior motive to engineer riots and split the society on communal lines to garner votes. They also have no respect for the state machinery. The attitude of chief minster Yogi is under question as till date he has not visited the family of the deceased police inspector. Fear psychosis is being used as a weapon. Any one disagreeing is being dubbed anti national and even killed like GauriLankesh, Kalburgi, Pansare and Dabholkar.
The government has utterly failed in meeting the security issues. Situation in J & K has gone worse. They intentionally do not want to address the issue and keep communal card alive. The even initially opposed the Kartarpur corridor project, but were compelled to accept it by the circumstances. There is a danger that finding themselves alienated among people they may play misadventure at the border.
The days to come are going to be preparing for the most crucial general elections of 2019, to overthrow the Modi government. The CPI and CPI (M) will mobilize all the secular, democratic and left forces for the broadest possible opposition to the ruling BJP and defeat it in the elections in 2019.
Speaking on the situation in the state Com Bant Singh Brar- Secretary CPI Punjab and Com Sukhwinder Sekhon- Secretary CPI (M) Punjab said that the law and order is getting worse and sand mafia, land mafia, drug mafia are making hay. Number of suicide cases by farmers and agriculture labour are increasing. The contractual system is continues as before looting the workers. Minimum wages have not been raised in the last six years. The Punjab government should sort out this issues immediately so that the BJP and its NDA allies do not take advantage of the situation in the upcoming elections.
Others who addressed the rally include Comrades Hardev Arshi, Nirmal Dhaliwal, Jagjit Singh Joga, Pirthipal Sigh Mari Megha & D P Maur from CPI and from CPI(M) Comrades Raghuath Singh, Lehmbar Singh Taggar, Bhupchand Channo & Roop Basant Singh. Those present on the stage include Comrades Dr Arun Mitra, Gulzar Goria, Gurnam Kanwar, Balvir Jadla, Gurdarshan Khaspur, Major Singh – Bhikhi Wind, Kulwinder Uddat. Rally was presided over by Comrades Gurchetan Singh Basi and Raghunath Singh.
