Chandigarh, May 5, 2015: The Punjab Government has issued charge sheet against retired IAS officer D.S. Jaspal for irregularities committed during his stint in office. The officer has been instructed to reply within 21 days of its receipt and has to inform in writing whether he accepts all or some of the charges.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that D.S.Jaspal former Principal Secretary, Transport Punjab has been issued charge sheet on ground of various imputations. He said that first charge against this former IAS officer is that during his tenure Computers and Cameras were purchased at a total cost of Rs. 5,39,793 from the account of Road Safety Council. These items were neither returned nor were the money deposited in the Road Safety Council. An amount of Rs. 4,27,280 was also spent on the purchase of folders and there is no record regarding number of folders purchased or issue of folders to anyone. Similarly He issued items (as per the statement of imputations) worth Rs. 1,99,373 from the account of PUNBUS. A cheque amounting to Rs. 71,478 dated 21 February 2012 was deposited in account of PUNBUS. But the remaining amount of Rs. 1,27,895 was neither deposited in the account of PUNBUS nor were the items returned to PUNBUS.
Charges have also been framed on the imputation that he was issued items (as per the statement of imputations) worth Rs. 2,60,524 from the account of Managing Director PRTC, Patiala. The total depreciated amount of these items is Rs. 2,22,015. An amount of Rs. 1,50,937 was deposited, but the remaining amount Rs. 71,078 has neither been deposited in the account of MD, PRTC, Patiala nor were the remaining items returned.
