ZEE TV’s popular primetime drama Jamai Raja is set to take a 20 year leap and viewers are in for a major twist. Currently on the show, Roshni (played by Nia Sharma) and Sid are blessed with a baby boy Karanveer and they are quite the doting parents. While most would think that the little baby is born in the lap of luxury and would never have to see the struggles of poverty, destiny has other plans for li’l Karanveer. In a tragic turn of events, Sid and Roshni die in a road accident. On his death bed, Sid hands over Karanveer to his nanny Gangu Tai, whose own son Satya also succumbs to fatal injuries in the same accident. To fill the void of her own child, Gangu Tai runs far away from the Khurana family. Karanveer is rechristened as ‘Satya’ and is brought up in the basti where Gangu Tai stays and does menial chores in different houses.
Actor Ravi Dubey will be seen playing the role of his own son ‘Satya’. Sid was almost flawless, a man of principles, selfless, believed in preserving relationships, made sacrifices for his loved ones and always thought money was not important. On the contrary, his son Satya is intelligent but believes in smart work rather than hard work and that money is everything. It is quite a challenge for the actor to play two such diverse roles.
Talking about the leap and his new character, Ravi shared, ‘Very few actors on television get to experiment with their looks on one show. I consider myself really blessed to have got the opportunity to have donned as many as 17 looks on Jamai Raja itself in the past two years. The show is now set to take a leap and I will play Satya, the 20 year old son of Sid and Roshni. Satya is brought up in a basti and so his look and body language will reflect that. Satya’s look is unlike Sid. I will be wearing lot of t-shirts, chunky accessories and it will be more of street style. Satya loves bikes and rides one too, so a lot of leather jackets and signature caps will be a part of my overall attire. He believes money can win over anything and his sole purpose in life is to be rich and provide his mother Gangu Tai with all the worldly luxuries. I am really working on the dialect and body language as it has to be very different yet has to come across as natural. The journey from Sid to Satya has been really memorable and I hope the audience continues to shower their love and support on the entire team.’
The leap will also see the exit of lead actor Nia Sharma and Indraneil Sengupta and the entry of many new characters. So watch this space for more details!
