Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala rolls out UDAY Double Decker Coaches

Kapurthala, March 19, 2019: Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala today rolled out the first rake of UDAY (Utkrisht Double Decker Air Conditioned Yatri) coaches. This rake includes 6 AC Chair Car, 3 AC Chair Coaches with Pantry and 2 Power Cars. Each Air-Conditioned chair car has 120 seats. There are 104 seats in the AC Chair car with a pantry car wherein the dining space is provided in its middle deck, in which the passengers can eat their favorite food. There is also provision for food wending and tea-coffee vending machine. The LED screen has also been provided for entertaining in the dining area. The coaches have spruced up interiors by pasting of colour films on panels. The colourful and comfortable seats add to the ambience of the interiors. Each coach has LCD screens to provide information to the passengers. The exterior of entire train has been decorated by pleasing vinyl wrapping. Air suspension system with multiple shock absorbers are provided for comfortable ride. Each coach has 02 modular type lavotaries with bio toilets fitted with soap dispensers etc. Wash basin and large mirror have also been provided in space along the lavotary . Smoky detection alarms have been installed in each coach for safety. It is worth mentioning that RCF had earlier manufactured the first air conditioned double-docker train of Indian Railways in 2011, of which 6 rakes are successfully running on various routes over Indian Railways. Hence, RCF has again been entrusted by Indian Railways to manufacture double-decker coaches with several new and passenger friendly features. Rail Coach Factory has now become the first production unit of Indian Railways, which has successfully produced Tejas, Hamsafar, Antyodaya, Deen Dayalu and Uday coaches.
