PU,VC meets HRD Minister in Delhi
Panjab University, Chandigarh Vice Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar met Sh. Prakash Javadekar, Union 
Minister, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in New Delhi, 
today. PU, VC informed the Hon’ble Minister about various steps taken by him for the 
betterment of Panjab University since his joining at PU. He discussed about 
implementation of 7th Pay Commission for PU. 
Prof. Kumar also met General V.K. Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, ADC, and the Minister of 
State for External Affairs, Government of India. PU VC discussed issues related to 
foreign students from various countries studying in Panjab University in large 
numbers. He also informed about large number of students who are studying in PU from 
the remotest areas of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and North-Eastern States. It 
was highlighted that since these students are from the poor social background and in 
the interest of national integration, their needs are to be protected. PU, VC apprised 
the MOS about accommodation problem. For their livelihood, a decent education and 
hostel accommodation is the need of an hour.  
PU, VC got a positive response in terms of resolving the above issues.
