KMV Students Displays their entrepreneurial talent in 2-day Exhibition-cum-sale

Jalandhar, November 2, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya - the Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar's P.G.Department of Fashion Designing has organized a two-day exhibition-cum-sale Prayaas at Shangri-La hotel. The exhibition was inaugurated by DC Jalandhar Sh Varinder Kumar Sharma and his wife Mrs Parveen Sharma, Mrs Neerja Chandar Mohan (Member KMV Managing Committee), Dr Sushma Chawla (Vice President KMV Managing Committee), Dr Sushma Chopra (Secretary KMV Managing Comittee), Mrs Anuradha Sondhi (Member KMV Managing Committee) and Dr Deepali Luthra (Member KMV Managing Committee) Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that it is an enterprise aimed at achieving the 'Earn While you Learn' theme which is the hallmark feature of academics related to skill development at K.M.V. This exhibition was the joint venture of the students of the Department of Fashion Designing, Home Science, Food Science, B.Voc and M.Voc. The motive of the exhibition is to develop entrepreneurial skills in students and to make them self reliant. The proceeds would go to the Poor Student Fund of the college. It is significant to mention that KMV was the first college to be awarded Kaushal Kendra by UGC and under this Kendra a number of B.Voc and M.Voc courses are running successfully in the college. KMV is the only college to have been awarded M.Voc courses in Animation & VFX, Retail Management and Textile Design & Apparel Technology. The students of all these courses got an opportunity to showcase their talents in this exhibition. The exhibition featured festive Diwali products like fancy diyas, gift packings, jewellery, suits, sarees, kurtis, bed sheets, cushion covers, T-shirts, towels, masks, file folders, roti wraps, table mats, wall hangings, bags, wax and gel candles, decorative items etc. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi the visionary behind this exhibition averred that this type of initiative motivates the students to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and provides them a platform to display their talents in front of the whole world. She also lauded the efforts of Mrs. Harpreet Kaur, Ms. Amarjot Kaur, Ms. Tarandeep Kaur, Dept. of Fashion Designing, Ms Neeti Kapoor, Ms Mani and Ms Latika.
