Students visited Electricity Transmission Power Station

Jalandhar, October 21, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Jalandhar's PG Department of Physics organized an industrial visit to electricity transmission power station near Focal Point, Jalandhar for the students of B.Sc Non medical and Computer Science. The visit provided an opportunity to students and teachers to have one on one interaction with Sr.Engineer Gurgaurav Singh and his staff members. Er.Gurgaurav Singh explained about basic fundamentals behind transformers. While explaining the applications of ac and dc current he specifically pointed out the contradictions of thoughts of Michael Faraday and Nickola Tesla. He also pointed out that invention of transformer has solved the problem related to power transmission to far flung areas. The staff of substation also explained the working and different mechanism involved from electricity transmission to final electricity billing. The students were told very interesting facts about how the transmission station get to know if there is any fault in the lines. Students were astonished to see that how much maintenance efforts are done to bring the electricity from power houses to homes. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that these types of visits are very informative and interesting for the students where they are acquainted with the practical applications of the science.
