Punjab notifies SVP for maintenance and upkeep of Ludhiana focal point

Chandigarh, September 21, 2014: The Punjab Government has notified the creation of Focal Point Industrial Infrastructure Development Association Phase-IV Focal Point Ludhiana as Special Purpose Vehicle for upkeep and maintenance of Focal Point.
Disclosing this here today, Madan Mohan Mittal, Industries and Commerce Minister, Punjab said that Punjab was the first state in the country that has adopted SVP route in consultation with allottees to involve them in upkeep and maintenance of focal points. He said that Punjab Government was getting lot of complaints due regarding poor upkeep of Focal points as multiple agencies were responsible for their maintenance. He said that right from PWD, Irrigation Department, Municipal Corporation, Electricity Department and many other departments were given specific tasks for upkeep and maintenance of Focal Points was suffering due to lack of coordination between different agencies.
The Industries Minister said that in the SPV route, all allottees of Focal Point IV of Ludhiana have been made stakeholders and it would be collective responsibility of SPV to maintain their own focal point. He said that according to the notification issued under Common Infrastructure (Regulation and Maintenance) Act 2012, Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce would be the appellate authority of SPV and General Manager District Industry Center in the respective district posting would be the competent authority. The Minister said that after success of SPV model in Ludhiana Focal Point Punjab Government would replicate this model in other focal points of the state also.
