Punjab notifies SIT to probe PPSC Scam

Chandigarh, January 8, 2014: The Punjab Government today notified the constitution of Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the chairmanship of M.S. Bali, IPS (Retd) and with Suresh Arora, IPS, DGP-cum-Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, Punjab as member to further probe into the matter of alleged PPSC scam regarding recruitment of doctors.
Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau (VB) said that the SIT has been constituted as per the directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court.
He said that the SIT is empowered to enquire into the matter within a period of 4 months. All the departments have been issued directions to render assistance to the SIT to complete the task expeditiously.
The Spokesperson further said that the SIT would furnish the report to the Punjab and Haryana High Court from time to time after the completion of preliminary enquiry. He said that an operational team as required, would be at the disposal of SIT, He said that this operational team would be consisted of 1 Inspector General of Police (IGP), 4 Superintendent of Police (SPs), 3 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSPs), 5 Inspectors, 4 Sub Inspectors, 5 Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs), 5 Head Constables and 20 Constables. He said that other infrastructure and logistics support including; vehicles with drivers, ministerial staff, office equipment and residence accommodation would also be provided to the SIT. He further said that this operation team would consist of serving/retired officers/rank from the CBI, Chandigarh Police, the Central Police Organisations and Punjab Vigilance Bureau.
The Spokesperson said that headquarter of the SIT would be Patiala. He said that to ensure the speedy completion of preliminary enquiry, Suresh Arora, IPS, DGP, Vigilance Bureau and Member of the SIT, has been authorised to issue necessary orders regarding empanelment/cooption/ attachment/deputation of officers and vehicles to the SIT.// punjab news live, punjab news online, punjab news, punjab news headlines, punjab breaking news, india news, punjab news,
