Punjab governor administers oath to Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar as Acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court

Chandigarh, December 15, 2014: The Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Shivraj V Patil, today administered the oath to Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar as the Acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court on the premises of Raj Bhawan at a simple but impressive ceremony. Haryana Governor, Kaptan Singh Solanki, Punjab Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal and Haryana, Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Punjab Chief Secretary, Sarvesh Kaushal sought the permission from the Governor to begin the swearing-in-ceremony and read the notification of Justice Vazifdar’s appointment as acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. Soon after being sworn in Chief Justice Vazifdar signed the oath warrant, which was counter signed by the Governor.
Prominent amongst others who attended the swearing in ceremony included, former Judges of Supreme Court of India, Justice Ashok Bhan, Justice H.S. Bedi, Justice S.S. Nijjar, Justice S.S. Sodhi, former C.J. of High Court,  Food and Supplies Minister, Punjab, Adesh Partap Singh Kairon besides several sitting and retired Judges of Punjab and Haryana High court, members of the legal fraternity, jurists and top brass of the civil and police Administration of Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory of Chandigarh.  Meanwhile, the acting Chief Justice was accompanied by his family members, friends and relatives on the occasion.
The Swearing-in-Ceremony ended with the National Anthem played by the Punjab Police Band.  High-Tea was also served to the guests at the sprawling lawns of the Punjab Raj Bhavan after the ceremony.
