Chandigarh, December 5, 2013: As part of continued efforts to invite investments in Punjab, Adaish Partap Singh Kairon, Minister of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Food Processing and Information Technology had a high level meeting in Delhi today with Japanese delegation consisting of Tamaki Tsukada, Minister (Economic) and Tomofumi Fukamiya, First Secretary from Japanese Embassy in India.
At the outset Kairon welcomed the delegation and briefed them about Punjab as an ideal investment destination in terms of Enabling infrastructure, Government support, Cost advantage, large market, Enabling Ecosystem, Rich and abundant talent supply, Quality of life etc relating to IT and Food Processing industry.
The Minister also informed that Punjab was emerging as the most preferred and competitive investment destination for the IT and electronics and hardware sector for which the state has created an environment conducive to investors in the state.
It was informed that initially the state has planned for setting up 40 acres of Greenfield Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) cluster at Mohali and approx 1700 acres of land was also available for ready development which is located in the vicinity on international airport Mohali. It was also informed that a state of art STPI Incubation center was coming up at Mohali which would have 1.4 lakh sqft built up space.  Another State of Art STPI Incubation center is also coming up at Amritsar at the initiative of the department of IT Punjab.
The Japan embassy Minister (Economic) thanked Kairon for taking this initiative and for inviting Japanese investments in Punjab. The areas identified for further discussion includes Animation & Gaming, Electronics manufacturing and also Food processing. He also informed that the delegation would be having further discussions on the various other investment opportunities in Punjab.
The meeting concluded on a good note with Kairon inviting the delegation to visit Punjab to carry forward the initiative.
