Punjab To Launch Massive Campaign For Detoxification Food Chain- Ranike

Chandigarh, May 21, 2015: The Punjab Government today gives approval to a massive campaign for detoxification of food chain that was source of innumerable diseases in human beings, poultry and livestock.

Presiding over meeting of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Ludhiana  (GADVASU) and Animal Husbandry Department Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike, Animal Husbandry, Dairy development and fisheries Minister said, that toxification of  food chain starts from spray of insecticides and pesticides on fodder plants that transfers toxic chemicals in the livestock of animal feed resulting in its transfer in human body through milk, eggs, meat and other eatables. He said that all universities would have to launch collective program to strike at the root of toxification cycle and save humanity from diseases and slow poisoning.

Expressing serious concern over the presence of toxic bacteria and other health hazardous elements in milk, eggs, meat and other eatables, The Punjab Government has decided to launch a massive campaign to sensitize farmers, general public and other stake holders in order to detoxify these eatables.  Mr. Ranike said that in this endeavours the Punjab Government would collaborate with the Guru Angad Dev veterinary and animal sciences, Ludhiana  (GADVASU), Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, Health Department and Agriculture Department. He said that it has been seen that most of the farmer are using poisonous sprays to increase the yield unnaturally. He said that this tendency has left most of the eatables like fruits, vegetables, pulses and other eatables full of poisonous and   health hazardous bacteria.

Mr. Ranike said that these poisonous elements have also entered into the milk through green fodder for the cattle. He said that the farmers, dairy farmers and agriculturist have variably or invariably been becoming the cause of poisoning of eatables. He said that the state government would launch a massive campaign to sensitize the vegetable-fruit cultivators, poultry/dairy farmers and others entrepreneurs in the field of food items to refrain them for using pesticides needlessly. "Establish law of the land would also be implemented with iron hands to curb the unhealthy practices which caused poisoning of food items", he added.
