Expert delivers talk on theory construction at PAU

Ludhiana, April 3, 2015: A seminar on “Theory Construction” was organised in the Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Dr Neelam Bhardwaj, Professor and Head, Department of Agricultural Communication, G.B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand was the guest speaker. As many as 50 postgraduate students and faculty from the Departments of Extension Education, and Home Science Extension and Communication Management attended the seminar.

Dr Bhardwaj talked about inter-relationship of various concepts, constructs, variables and postulates which are pre-requisite for the development of theory. She further stated, “Postulates provide foundation for research work.” She emphasised on coming out with constructive theories in extension research. “We should formulate and test our hypothesis under different locations and situations carefully and honestly,” she added. Besides, she inspired the students to work with dedication for their researches in order to come out with appropriate outcome.

Earlier, Dr R.K. Kalra, Prof. and Head, Extension Education welcomed the guest speaker and the participants.
