Punjab Govt To Set Up Driving Training & Research Institute At Kapurthala

Chandigarh, November 12, 2015: The Transport Department has decided to establish an institute of  Driving Training & Research (IDTR) at Kaputhala.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Punjab Government said that ITDR  would be established at village Thikriwala of  Kapurthala district with capital funding by central government and a state government agency.
He further said that this IDTR  would be nodal institute for providing training to the trainers as well as drivers of commercial vehicles so as to reduce the number of accidental deaths. He said that this institute shall also act as auditing agency for all the driving training institutes working in the state and would provide infrastructure for conducting training courses on training to trainers, drivers of heavy and commercial vehicles and drivers transporting dangerous/hazardous goods. He said that this institute would  impart training to 20000 drivers per year.
