Jalandhar, October 7, 2016: Governor of Punjab VP Singh Badnore released 8th Music Album “Aastha” voiced by Padma Bhushan Dr Barjinder Singh Hamdard, Editor-in Chief of Ajit Group of Publications. Influential gathering from all quarters of the society graced the release-ceremony celebrated at Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium of Lovely Professional University. All 8 compositions contained in this 8th album of Dr Hamdard are tribute to firm faith in humanity, patriotism and goodness all around. LPU students depicted deep seated emotions & varying praying moods, as conceived in the album, through mesmerizing choreography. Extolling diverse endeavours of Dr Hamdard for humanity, Punjab and Punjabis, not only in the state and the country but all across the globe, Governor Badnore acknowledged him as a powerful voice in Media, Music and many other allied fields.

Present on the occasion were Former Lt Governor S Iqbal Singh, MP Naresh Gujral, Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, S Tajinder Singh Bittu, Sh Sheetal Vij, Sh Irwin Khanna, S Prem Singh Advocate, Swami Shantanand, Sh Gautam Kapoor, Sh Ramesh Mittal, Sh Naresh Mittal, Sh Ashok Mittal, Smt Rashmi Mittal, Bibi Inderjit Kaur, Bhai Ravinder Singh Raagi and many other great personalities of important ranks and social status.

Addressing the mammoth gathering of stalwarts from all sections of society, HE Governor Badnore said: “This day has become a historical one as the singer of these songs Dr Hamdard and the student- performers of LPU have contributed a lot to the society. Humility is the greatest part of Dr Hamdard’s personality, all people should follow it.” He also congratulated all Jalandhar residents for their city being chosen as a smart city. He invoked all to make it smarter by joint noble efforts.

Addressing all, Dr Hamdard shared: “Music is my passion. I have always been fascinated by music since my childhood. Although I was fond of singing right from my early school days, yet I could not carry on this fondness seriously due to multiple involvements in my life and works. However, I am blessed that music has always been an integral part of my being and has never faded away in spite of my multifarious activities. I consider music is the real food for the soul of a human being.”

The eight songs included in this 8th album ‘Aastha’ are: “Hum ko man kee shakti dena; Garaj baras pyassi dharti ko; Ae maalik tere bande hum; Main tumko vishwas doon; Khud Jeeyen sab ko jeena sikhaayen; Sarfaroshi kee tamanna; Mera Rang de basanti chola;and, Insaan Kaa Insaan se hae bhaichara, yehii paigaam hamara..”. The music director of these songs is S Gurdeep Singh. The other seven albums since 2003 are Jazbaat, Aahat, Sijda, Khushboo, Shrdhanjali, Meri Pasand and Lok Geet, which contain old songs, ghazals, and other genres in sublime and transcendental voice of Dr Hamdard.

Prior to this, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal welcomed all at the album release ceremony and lauded the efforts of Punjab Government for bringing illustrious peace and prosperity to the state and the country. Mr Mittal also congratulated Dr Hamdard for his 8th musical album and thanked him for selecting LPU campus for the prestigious ceremony. Executive Editor of Daily Ajit Satnam Singh Manak briefed about the event, and also conducted the stage. S Iqbal Singh, MP Naresh Gujral, Sh Irwin Khanna and Shri Sangat Ram also shared about greatness of Dr Hamdard.

Illustrative, the founder-Editor of Punjabi Tribune, Dr Hamdard established new credentials as a journalist, and eventually became Editor-in-Chief of the Ajit Group of Publications. He has added new milestones at every step of his illustrious journalistic career. Embodying the subtle and complex narrative of human relationships, his creativity is instilled with brilliant imagination & facts, be it in his editorials, books, poems, songs or speeches. Recognition of brilliant journalistic and creative works has decorated him with many awards including ‘Padam Bhushan’ by the Government of India; ‘Shiromani Patarkar’ by Punjab Government, ‘Special Award’ by Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) and Honorary D. Lit by Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr Barjinder Singh also became M P (Rajya Sabha) in 1998.
