APPRECIATES QUALITY RESEARCH WORK BY THE INDIAN DOCTORS
CHANDIGARH, NOVEMBER 26, 2016: The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri V.P.Singh Badnore today inaugurated a two day conference on “New Horizons in the Management of Liver Diseases” organised by PGI Chandigarh jointly with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

Addressing the specialists and doctors from all across the country, the Governor laid more emphasis on the herbal treatment of diseases as it does not have any side effects. But at the same time, he appreciated the doctors for putting in a lot of research work in the field of medical sciences. He appreciated the quality of research produced in the medical institutes as compared to other countries. Sh. Badnore attributed the highly accomplished research work to the experience the research scholars have as the practising doctors. He also said that the state government was making all out efforts to tackle Hepatitis C but he said similar efforts are required to tackle alcoholism and excessive use of tobacco.

The Governor also said that although the governments are opening more and more centres for liver transplantation, but the treatment being exuberantly high in prices that a common man cannot afford to have the complete treatment. He stressed on the need to set up affordable quality health centres for the people.

Prominent amongst others who spoke on the occasion included, Dr. S. Varma, Director PGI, Dr. Yogesh Chawla, Former Director PGI, Prof. Anoop Saraya of AIIMS, Dr. R.K. Dhiman and Prof. Ajay Duseja.
