Amritsar, October 31, 2016: 316 Field Regiment is the first Artillery unit of Indian Army to have successfully completed two years tenure at the highest Regimental Gun Area in the world at 14300 ft in East Kameng sector along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh. The fortitude of the unit resulted the award of second Eastern Command Unit Citation for the unit in the brief history of 31 years.

The unit with the motto “VIJAYAM KRIT NISCHAY” will send its first ever trekking expedition team comprising of two officers, one Junior Commissioned Officer and ten other ranks lead by Maj Pankaj Singh, as part of Army Adventure Wing from
Banoi to Dharech which climbs to 6,500 ft and has many challenging sections through steep gradients and rough terrain for a duration of ten days.

The trekking team will carry the message of indomitable spirit and “Will to Win” over the course of expedition and spread awareness about Indian Army to the isolated people of Banoi and Dharech and the region. The unit will also compile details of flora and fauna of the region on behalf of the fmn. The trek will start
on 31 October 2016 and will be flagged off by General Officer Commanding, Panther Division at Amritsar.
