PUNJAB Government extends last date to pay outstanding bills of house tax, water and sewerage

Chandigarh, July 22, 2013: In a big relief to the urban population of the state the Punjab Government today extended the last date of payment of outstanding bills of house tax, water and sewerage. The date now has been fixed as August 31 which was earlier May 31.

This was disclosed by Chunni Lal Bhagat, Minister for Local Bodies, Punjab in a press communiqué here today.

He said that the consumers in order to avail this benefit have to deposit the actual bills up to August 31, 2013. He said that by extending the last date the department has also decided to waive off the interest money and other penalties imposed on the outstanding bills of house tax, water and sewerage up till August 31.

He further said that written instruction in this regard has already been dispatched to all the commissioner of the Municipal Corporations, Regional Deputy Directors of the Local Urban Bodies and Executive Officers of the all Nagar Councils and Panchayats. “The officers have also been told to sensitise the public about the initiative of the Government, so that more and more people can avail this opportunity”, the Minister added.
