Punjab Government Brings out Seeds List

Chandigarh, March 24, 2015: Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, today announced the roll of seeds for upcoming Agriculture Fest in the state. The Punjab Government made sure about the quality and excellence of seeds for the farmers of the state.

While disclosing the spokesperson said that Gurdaspur and Bathinda districts would be hosting forthcoming Agricultural Fest. The theme of Kisan Mela would be ‘Adopt diversification, save nature’. He said that seeds of improved varieties of different Kharif crops and fruit plants recommended will be main attraction of the Mela. The seeds of new variety of rice PR 124 will also be distributed on this occasion.

 He said that the list of upcoming quality tested seeds for farmers has been produced by the experts for the betterment of the crop results. The upgraded seeds for paddy named as PR 124, PR 123, PR 122, PR 121, PR 118, PR 114, and PR 111. The upgraded seeds of Basmati named as Punjab Basmati 3, PUSA Punjab Basmati 1509, and PUSA Basmati 1121.  The fodder seeds like Maize J 1006, pearl millet F BC 16 were the specialised, tested and approved seeds. The new specialised cotton crop seeds of LD 327, FD K124, LH 2108 and LH 2076 were also proficiently tested.

While encouraging woman power of the state, he further said that the Farm-women will be provided technical know-how with respect to household activities. The farming handouts will be provided at the event of Kisan Mela.
