Punjab enhances compensation amount to rape victims

Chandigarh, November 7, 2013: Punjab Government has enhanced the amount of compensation to the rape and murder with rape victims or their dependents.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Punjab Government said that maximum compensation  to the victims or his/her dependents would  be given Rs.3,00,000 in case of rape and Rs.4,00,000 in case of murder with rape. It is mentioned that the earlier compensation amount was Rs.2,00,000 and Rs.3,00,000, respectively.
Besides this, the Punjab Government has also been providing compensation of Rs. 50,000 to the victim of Human Trafficking, child abuse and kidnapping, Rs. 10,000 to the simple loss or injury to child victims and Rs. 20,000 to the Rehabilitation of women and children.      
The spokesman further said that Rs. 3 lakh was being provided to the victim of acid attack in case of disfigurement of face and Rs. 50,000 for other cases and injury.
