Jagraon (Ludhiana), March 16, 2013: Sensation was created in and around Akhara village, near here, after a middle aged person was shot at.
According to available information, the assailants were carrying firearms. The injured person Tara Singh is undergoing treatment in a private hospital at Ludhiana. He is stated to be out of danger.
About a half dozen assailants carrying firearms and sharp-edged weapons allegedly assaulted on Tara Singh at his house on Saturday morning. Singh sustained bullet injuries.
On receiving the information, a police party headed by DSP Jagraon Surinder Kumar and SHO Hathur Dilbagh Singh visited the spot, to have first hand information on the spot.
The victim had apprised the police about names of some of the alleged assailants.
The incident is stated to be an outcome of an old rivalry between the opposite factions.
Police have registered a case against five persons under various Sections, including 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC at Police Station Hathur.
The accused are still absconding. Police are conducting raids at all possible hideouts of the accused.
