Punjab Empanels 5 Firms To Encourage Protected Cultivation Of Vegetables

Chandigarh, July 22, 2016: In a bid to encourage the farmers to opt for the cultivation of vegetables under controlled atmosphere, The Punjab Government has empanelled 5 firms to assist the farmers to set up Polyhouse and Polynet houses in their fields. State Government would provide subsidy on the structures erected by these empanelled firms.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that among the 5 firms empanelled for putting up structures for protected cultivation of vegetables included M/s Earth Agro Structures Pvt Ltd. Zirakpur, M/s Farming Solutions Pvt. Ltd. GT Road Ludianan, M/s M.F. Agro & Export Pvt. Ltd. Feroz Gandhi Market, Ludhiana, M/s Poly Agro Engineers, Bathinda and M/s E.P.C. Industries Ltd. Nasik.
The spokesperson further said that the State Government has established Center for Excellence in Vegetable at Kartarpur where training to the farmers for the latest techniques in Protected Cultivation is imparted throughout the year. Besides this Horticulture Development Officers in each district has also being sensitizing the farmers about the techniques of Protected Cultivation of vegetables. Hybrid vegetable seedlings are also being provided to the farmers at district level.
