Chandigarh, May 14, 2015: University of Tabriz, Iran has invited Panjab University (PU) Professor Manju Jaidka to deliver the keynote address at an International Conference. Prof Jaidka, Professor in Department of English, would deliver lecture on "Contemporary Indian Women Writers in English: Themes, Issues, and Preoccupations".
The Conference is being organized by University of Tabriz, Ahar branch on May 20 and 21.
The theme of the conference is ‘Challenges in ELT and English Literature: Facing the Current issues’. In addition to the keynote, Prof Jaidka will also participate in a panel discussion.
A former Chairperson at PU and the present head of the Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi, Prof Jaidka has travelled widely on professional assignments and on fellowships. She is an academician and creative writer who has published extensively, and is on several national and international bodies.
The University of Tabriz, which has several students studying in Chandigarh, is keen on signing an MOU with PU and has sent a proposal to initiate necessary discussions. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
