Chandigarh, September 22, 2015: The Chandigarh NSS contingent from various colleges affiliated to Panjab University(PU), Chandigarh successfully completed 10 days adventure camp organised by Regional Adventure Sport Centre, Hatkoti a unit of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports Manali (HP).
A total of 15 boys and 15 girls participated in the adventure camp organized from September 10, 2015. The adventure camp was led by Programme Officers Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh (PU), Ms. Shamama Amir and Dr. Anju Pehwal (PGGCG-11).
The NSS volunteers acquired proficiency in elementary skills of Rock Climbing, Repelling, River crossing, Trekking, Camping, Jungle craft, Survival, Leadership and White water rafting. The adventure training was conducted in the wilderness of
Himalayas. The trainees trekked 45 km in Himalayas and attained 11500 feet height.
PU NSS programme Coordinator Prof. Yograj Angrish and NSS State Liaison Officer, U.T Mr. Bikram Rana congratulated all the 30 students and 3 programme officers for completing the adventure camp/course in “A” grade from the mountaineering institute.
