PTE Academic receives recognition from Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council

Ludhiana, July 28, 2016: Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, has announced that the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) has been approved by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council(ANMAC) for English language assessment of overseas nurses. This recognition came into effect from 1 July 2016. PTE Academic is already approved for applications tothe Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). PTE Academic is currently administered in 24 test centres across17 cities in India i.e. Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Jalandhar, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patiala, Pune, Rajkot and Vijaywada.

With this recognition, nurses from India, who are seeking employment opportunities in Australia, can now use PTE Academic – both, for registering to work and for migrating to Australia. As per the occupational ceilings released by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP),there are over 16,346 nurses and midwifery places to be filled by skilled migrants in this financial year.

PTE Academic is a computer-based language test that offers international students and employment seekers afast(results typically in five business days),fair(accurate computer marking with no potential for examiner bias) and flexible(test sessions 363 days of the year)way of proving their English language proficiency. Globally, PTE Academic is accepted by thousands of academic programmes, as well as by the DIBP for all immigration and student visa applications. The 100% computer-based 3-hour test includes three sections – speaking &writing, reading and listening. In view of the criticality of immigration procedure, the results are provided to applicants, typically within five working days.
