Chandigarh, July 11, 2016: A TEQIP sponsored One Week Workshop on Image Processing and Machine Learning for Pattern Recognition commenced at University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University (PU), here today.
The workshop will feature expert talks and panel discussions by dignitaries from different reputed institutes and leading industries of the country, including IIT Kharagpur, IIT Ropar, IIT Roorkee, JNU, PGIMER, Chandigarh and CSIR-CSIO. Prof Fabrice from University of Burgandy, France delivered talk on inaugural day and about the development of CAD system for diagnosing retinal disease.
The Chief Guest, PU Director, Research Promotion Cell, Prof. O. P. Katare spoke about the need of pattern recognition and emphasized about the importance of being aware of developments in this field. Chief Coordinator of the Programme Prof.Sukhwinder Singh highlighted the main objective of the workshop to provide an exposure to various image processing and machine learning techniques used for pattern recognition. He further highlighted the focus of the workshop will be on fundamental theory, recent developments, and research outcomes addressing the practical aspects of pattern recognition.
Chief Coordinator of the workshop Prof Savita Gupta highlighted the importance of the image processing and its use in Biomedical imaging. She also highlighted the role machine learning is playing in day to day decision making of humans. Dr Ajay Mittal, finally presented vote of thanks and informed that there are about fifty faculty members from different parts of India participating in this one week long workshop.
