Prizes distribution ceremony of Ludhiana District Rural Games

Ludhiana, August 29, 2014: Ludhiana District Rural Games under the Scheme of  Union Sports Ministry namely Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan organised by  District Sports Office under the guidance of Sports Department, Punjab concluded here at Guru Nanak Stadium on the eve of National Sports Day and birthday of Dada Dhyan Chand, the Hockey Legend. Homage were also paid to the Hockey Legend on the day. Kartar Singh District Sports Officer, Ludhiana gave away the prizes the winners.

Khanna Block won overall Athletics Championship in Boy’s section by pocketing 50 points, Block Samrala and Doraha got second and third place by getting 18 and 16 points respectively. Samrala Girl’s won gold by clinching 51 points, Jagraon and Machhiwarha were declared second with 19 points each where as Doraha got third place with 15 points.

In Basketball Boys Khanna won gold by defeating Doraha 27-19 and in Girls section Jagraon won gold by outplaying Doraha 14-13.

In Hockey Boy’s Dehlon crushed Pakhowal 7-0 and won the gold where as Doraha got the bronze medal. In girls Dehlon outplayed Raikot by 2-0 goals.

Ludhiana 2 outclassed Samrala by 21-13 points in the final match of Handball where as in girl’s section Ludhiana 2 defeated Sidhwan Bet for the gold by 8-2 where as Sudhar beat Ludhiana 1 by 12-3 for the bronze medal.

In Kabaddi Boy’s Dehlon defeated Ludhiana -1  48 15 and won the gold and Raikot defeated Samrala 41-23 for the bronze. In girl’s section Raikot beat Machhiwarha by 39-17 for the bronze.

Pakhowal outplayed Ludhiana 2 by 10-5 for the gold and Smarala defeated Doraha by 10-6 for the bronze where as in girl’s section Pakhowal again won gold by defeating Khanna 7-1 and Jagraon beat Raikot 5-1 for the bronze.

In Volleyball Boy’s final match Khanna won the gold by defeating Ludhiana 2 by 25-14, 25-12 where as Jagraon beat Doraha 25-12, 25-15 for the bronze. In Girl’s section Jagraon won gold by defeating Sudhar 26-24, 25-21 and Sidhwan Bet beat Ludhiana 1by 25-19, 25-21.

Khanna topped the tally in Weight Lifting Boys by getting 38 points where as Samrala and Ludhiana 1 got second and third place with 24 and 15 respectively. In girl’s section Khanna clinched gold by 35 points and Samrala and Machhiwarha got silver and bronze by getting 17 and 15 points respectively.

In Wrestling Boy’s Ludhiana 1 grabbed gold with 36 points, Khanna won silver with 31 and Dehlon has to satisfy with bronze by getting 8 points.
