The Mulazam Front of I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University held a pen-down strike on its first day that lasted for whole day till 5pm on Friday.

Jalandhar, July 10, 2015: Strictly opposing the Punjab Government’s decision to transfer Rs 75 crore for the establishment of Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University in Bathinda, the Mulazam Front of I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University held a pen-down strike on its first day that lasted for whole day till 5pm.  In this, more than 500 employees of all levels i.e. clerks, teachers, officers etc participated.
The meeting of the announcement of an indefinite str  ike was held yesterday. It should be noted that more than Rs. 150 Crore, in total, has already been transferred by IKG-PTU, to Malwa belt specifically in Bathinda.
Telling about the more details of funds transfer, Mulazam Front’s President Kamlesh Kumar said, “More than Rs. 55 crore has been spent by IKG-PTU on PIT’s namely PIT Mansa, PIT Nandgarh, and PIT Sikhwala etc in last two years which also includes the establishment of Giani Zial Singh campus in Bathinda. The annual various types of fees from the colleges which are being transferred to Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University, Bathinda, comes out to be Rs. 35 crore. More than Rs. 50 crore dues are pending with the colleges which are already being transferred to second technical university, Bathinda.”
Mulazam Front leaders said that four years back Punjab Government had transferred Giani Zial Singh campus to IKG-PTU and fixed the latter’s responsibility to renovate and bring fresh development of campus as PTU Giani Zial Singh campus. During this period, IKG-PTU had invested more than Rs. 100 Cr. to bring out the campus from financial crises. University has funded for the development of hostel and other renovation purposes. Punjab Govt. has allotted various multi-disciplinary buildings as well as vacant land areas to establish them as PITs through the corpus fund of IKG-PTU. University has already invested multi-crore rupees over the registry as well as establishment of such PITs.
Vice-President of the Front, Yadwinder Singh said, “Eight PITs are already transferred to second state technical University in Bathinda. IKG-PTU has already invested more than Rs. 50 crore on these properties. When already university has transferred a huge amount to Malwa region, why Government has still kept an eye over remaining corpus fund?. This is sheer biasness.”
Mulazam Front employees alleged that the views of state Government is against IKG-PTU since last four-five years. Government is planning to strengthen the academic education in Malwa region with the total investment of IKG-PTU’s corpus fund. The most important thing is throughout the country, less numbers of students are willing to join Malwa region for pursuing their higher studies.
The strike will be continued till Government don’t roll back its decision of transferring another Rs. 75 crore to Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University in Bathinda, front claimed.
General Secretary Paramjit Singh, Press Secretary Ekonkar S Johal, Vice-President Dr. S S Walia, Joint Secretary S. Sarabjit Singh and Paramjit S Gill, Finance Secretary Er. H P Singh and S. Rajwinder Singh were present on the occasion.
