PCTE organized Bharat Ki Khoj Paratha Bhoj Event
Ludhiana, August 10, 2018: On the advent of Independence Day, PCTE faculty of Hotel Management and Travel & Tourism organized Bharat Ki Khoj Paratha Bhoj Event in which 300 students of Hotel management and Tourism department made 1241 varieties of parathas in 9 minutes & 10 seconds. It was an attempt to make a world record. The main motive of the event was to give India its national breakfast – Paratha’s, where all Indians can take pride in culinary world. Keeping it in view 1241 varities of parathas along with 29 signature parathas of each state were showcased. Just to mention few Sarson ka saag paratha from Punjab, Phirni paratha from Kashmir, Bai Paratha from Mizoram, Bamboo-shoot paratha from Arunachal Pradesh etc were cooked and served. In this entire event more than 300 variation of ingredients like spices, herbs, cereals, grains, Pulses, Sea food, sweets, fruits, fry fruits, chicken, mutton, port etc were used. Commandant Suresh Kumar, ITBP Camp, Baddowal along with Colonel Kuldeep Singh, Commanding Office17 FAD, Baddowal were the Chief Guest at the event. Chef Sanjeev Verma - Owner of PASHTOON Restaurant and Vice President of CAFR, Chef Vishavdeep Bali - Entrepreneur & MD of Food Masters, Chef Nellu Kaura - Lady Celebrity Chef, Chef Hitesh Arora, Chef Shibiraj Saha - Ex. Chef of Park Plaza, Chef Vikas Grover – Senior & Renowned Chef of Punjab, Mr. Abhinav Asthana - Training Manager at Hyatt, Chef VP Bhatt - Renowned Chef of Uttrakand were Guest of Honor to the event. Keeping in view the presence of 43 countries on campus a wide range of Chinese, Mexican, Portuguese, French, British, Italian parathas were made. Many of international students from various countries like Kenya, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Bhutan participated in the event and displayed their culinary skills. Mr. Anirban Gupta, Dean, PCTE – IHM said that it took almost like 8 months for us to properly excute the idea. It was a complete handwork and dedication of entire team of Hotel management and Travel and tourism department. Through this event, an attempt was made by us to make a world record by making 1000+ varieties of Parathas in less than 10 minutes and we are looking forward to it. All the parathas were later sent to “Robinhood” army which will be then served to poor and needy people. Dr. K N S Kang, Director General, PCTE Group of Institutes congratulated the entire team of IHM on successfully organizing the event. He appreciated the efforts of the students & faculty and said that such events help the students in exploring their creativity. He further added that hospitality is a growing sector and PCTE encourages such events to implement practical learning on campus.
