PCTE Group of Institutes organizes its 16th Annual Athletic Meet

Ludhiana, March 1, 2019: The sprawling playground wore a festive look with colorful flags and well laid tracks on the first day of the 16th Annual Athletic Meet of PCTE Group of Institutes started with an individual class march past, where the drumbeat rolled and the swing of the arms and the sound of thudding feet showed the level of enthusiasm in the students, after the march past an oath taking ceremony was conducted where the entire atmosphere was filled with great zeal and excitement. The spirit of the competition continued as the students participated in various events like 100 meters (Men & Women), Discus Throw Finals (Women), Short Put (Men & Women), Long Jump (Men &Women), High Jump (Men & Women), 800 meters Finals (Men &Women) , Short Put Finals (Men ), 4*100 meters (Men), 400 meters Finals (Men & Women). The Participants competed with true sportsman spirit where in class march past BHMCT 4th Year bagged the first position, BHMCT 2nd Year bagged the second position and B Pharmacy 3rd Year bagged the third position respectively. In 800 meters (Women), the first position was bagged by Gurjot Kaur from BioTec 1st Year, second position was bagged by Glorious from MLS 2nd Year and the third position was bagged by Kamara Sewa from BBA 1 B respectively. In 800 meters (Men) the first position was bagged by Manmeet Singh from BCA 3, the second position was bagged by Jagjit Singh from B.Sc Agriculture and the third position was bagged by Raghav from B Com 2nd year respectively. In Discus Throw the first position was bagged by Choki from ATHM 2nd Year, second position was bagged by Manyaluoe Lebajoa from MLS 2nd Year and Chetan from 2B bagged the third position. In 400 meters (Women) Kamara Sewa from BBA 1 B bagged the first position, Glorious from MLS 2nd Year bagged the second position and Gurjot Kaur from Bio Tec 1st Year bagged the third position respectively. In 400 meters ( Men) Manmeet Singh from BCA 3 bagged the first position, the second position was bagged by Supreet Singh from BBA- 1A and the third position was bagged by Jagjit Singh from B.Sc Agriculture respectively. In Short Put ( Men) Puneet Pal Singh from BBA 2B bagged the first position, Jatin from MBA 2B bagged the second position and Mehak Deep Singh from B Pharmacy 1st Year bagged the third position. Mr. Amitej Singh, Head of Department, PCTE Group of Institutes said that the annual athletic meet showcased balance, physical strength, flexibility, power, agility, coordination, grace, control and above all the spirit of teamwork that each one of our learners. Dr. K.N.S. Kang, Director General of PCTE Group of Institutes said, “events like annual athletic meet are a great source of inspiration for mental and physical development of the students". He further added that “I strongly believe that sports should be given as much importance as academic subjects. At PCTE we lay special emphasis on this day which gives our students a chance to explore their innate talents as they enjoy a healthy competition with each other".
