Chandigarh, April 6, 2019: CRIKC organized an Industry-Academia Meet christened as Medical Device Innovation Cluster (MDIC) at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Inaugurating the meet, Professor Raj Kumar, Vice-chancellor, Panjab University and President, CRICK informed the participants that now CRICK is fully ready for collaboration with industry. He laid down
6-point agenda, namely sector specific industry-academia clusters, addressing societal problems through industry-academic intervention etc., to strengthen the industry academia interface. He suggested extending CRIKC to states like J&K, Himachal, North-East as well as to various industrial cities like Ludhiana etc to collaboratively address the problems of remotest areas/ industry. He shared the involvement of around 50+ industrial houses of Ludhiana in the business meet organized by Panjab University. He also shared about opening the lab facilities of Panjab University in
24x7 mode and visit of students from under-privilege areas of the country. Prof S.K Mehta, Coordinator CRICK, highlighted the journey of CRIKC since its existence along with the availability of high ended instruments for public and private sector. Mr. IS Paul, MD, Drish Shoes, Chandigarh, endorsed the views of Professor Kumar and assured full support in making Chandigarh region as one of the leading centres of industry- academia interface. He also emphasised the necessity of reducing Carbon Foot prints for future product development. Mr. PJ Singh, MD, Tynor, Mohali suggested that CRIKC should set up a dedicated unit which should smoothen the functioning of industry-academia functioning. Prof. S.S.
Marwaha, Chairperson, Punjab Pollution Control Board, appreciated the concept of CRIKC and implored that its member institutes have the potential to solve the problems of industry which are polluting the environment. Sh. Suresh Sharma, CMD, Allengers, Chandigarh empathised the need for regular follow ups and review meetings for stream lining the working
of industry-academia collaborations. Prof. Deeraj Sanghi, Director PEC and Vice-President CRIKC, expressed his pleasure to be part of CRIKC. Prof. Raj Kumar while concluding the workshop said that he want to make these targets time bound and want to focus on CRIKC technology deliverable gallery to be in place as early as possible. It will be a single window to showcase all the products of CRIKC to be available for the visitors and industry. Professor R. Tewari, Coordinator, DST-CPR and Convenor of MDIC, highlighted the facilities/ infrastructure for promoting industry-academia eco-system of the Chandigarh region.
He also informed the gathering that the recent grant of DST sponsored Technology Enabling Centre would be a game changer in stimulating the patents, products and technologies. Prof. Sanjiv Puri, Coordinator DST-TEC and Director CIIPP, highlighted the prototypes developed of CRIKC member institutes. Event was sponsored by DST-CPR, DST-TEC, SAIF/CIL.
