PCMS doctors defer strike
Decision taken after meeting with health minister today & in public interest
Ludhiana, November 27, 2014: On assurance given by the Health Minister Punjab Surjeet Kumar Jayani to PCMS-SDA state president Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal and Ludhiana district President Dr Avinash Jindal informed that the government doctors have decided in public interest to withdraw the strike, which was to start from November 28 (Friday morning).
The doctors informed that they apprised Health Minister Surjeet Kumar Jayani that doctors in Civil Hospitals are overburdened with meager Para medical staff to assist and the infrastructure is also not comparable to big private hospitals.
"The work load is remarkably high, not only this, we are dealing with poorest section of society and very sick patients, those who cannot avail any health facility outside. We requested the Health Minister to keep everything in mind while deciding the President case. He has assured us that full justice would be given.  So, we defer the Strike," Dr Dr. Avinash Jindal, district president, PCMS-SDA said in a press release issued here today.
The doctors informed that the Health minister Surjeet Kumar Jayani has also called them in a meeting at Chandigarh in the coming days to solve their other long pending demands. "So we have also decided to postpone the pen down strike of all PCMS-SDA Punjab doctors which was already fixed for 29-11-2014," said Dr Davinder Kumar, General Secretary, PCMS-SDA, Ludhiana.
