PAU's RRS BALLOWAL SAUNKHRI HOLDS MEET ON AGRO-PROCESSING

Ludhiana, October 25, 2016: The Regional Research Station (Ballowal Saunkhri) of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a meeting on the processing of agri-crops and establishment of Kandi Kisan Club for the farmers of Kandi area. The main aim of the formation of Kandi Kisan Club is transfer of technologies to the farmers and agro-processing of crops for framing ofmandi.An Adhoc Committee of 10 farmers was constituted on the occasion.

Addressing the farmers of Kandi area, Dr Manmohanjit Singh, Director, Regional Research Station, Ballowal Saunkhri said that traditional cropping pattern is not beneficial for farmers due to small land holdings. He advised the farmers to go for agro-processing as it is more beneficial. He further said that KVK will play a major role in the establishment of Kandi Kisan Club.

Dr Tarsem Chand, Senior Research Engineer, PAU, delivered a lecture on “Agro-Processing Complex” and emphasized on the processing of area specific crops for better benefits.

Dr D.S. Rana, Economist, RRS, Ballowal Saunkhri shed light on the development of cooperativemandi.

Earlier, Dr Vijay Kumar welcomed the gathering of farmers. Later, Dr Anil Khokhar proposed the vote of thanks.
