Ferozepur, February 6, 2016: Centuries old Hindu Girls Sr.Sec.School has got a new lease life due to relentless efforts made by members of senior citizen forum. Established in beginning of nineteenth century, Hindu Girls School was once one of the premier institutions of Ferozepur. Dr.Sadhu Chand Vinayak and Jawala Ram Sikri, two of the renowned social workers of Ferozepur region gave their valuable contributions for the upliftment of this institution which was constructed to provide education to the poor and needy Hindu girls. However, later due to internal disputes, the school management did not appoint proper staff to take care of the studies and at one time it only had one teacher which was also taking care of school related issues. The building was in dilapidated condition and even few of the rooftops had cave in.
Last year, few intellectual members of senior citizen forum including PD Sharma, Madan Lal Tiwari, Vinod Grover and Desh Bandhu Tulli decided to pick up the gauntlet. “We just wanted that this century’s old tradition should die like this. We talked to people to spread awareness. We earned some money by selling old school material and now it has come up with new overhauled building for the upcoming session”, revealed P.D. Sharma, a renowned educationist.
“In future we will also form “Hindu Kanya College”, for needy and poor girls. We have identified One Acre seven canal land which actually belongs to Hindu Kanya Pathshala Sabha but at present is under illegal possession. However, we will talk to the administration and will get the possession of that land also no matter what how long we have to fight”, said Sharma.
