PAU Youth Fest Kicks Off

Ludhiana, November 27, 2015: The “Inter College Youth Festival 2015-16” kicked off at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The students from four constituent colleges of PAU displayed their creativity and talent in collage making, creative writing and cartooning events. Students exhibited their artistic and literary skills on themes including “Swacch Bharat,” “India and Nationalism,” and “Mobile.”
Inaugurating the fest, Dr (Mrs) R.K. Dhaliwal, Director Students’ Welfare, who was the chief guest, said, “PAU, being agricultural research based University, is different from other universities and stands committed to the overall personality enhancement of the students.” She further said, “The youth festival provides a platform to the students to channelise their energies, showcase their hidden talent, and remain attached to their cultural roots.”
Dr P.K. Khanna, PAU Registrar, who was the chief guest at the prize-distribution function, said participation is important than winning as it instills self-confidence. He called upon the students to participate actively and vigorously in all the other events. Later, he distributed the certificates and mementos to the winners.
Earlier, Dr J.S. Bhalla, Coordinator of Cultural Activities, PAU welcomed the guests and the participants. On the occasion, Dr M.S. Toor, President, PAU Fine Arts Club; and Mr Satvir Singh, Welfare Officer were present. Besides, the Presidents of Dance, Drama and Music Club (DDMC) namely Dr Anureet Chandi (Agriculture); Dr Nilesh Diwalkar (Agricultural Engineering); Dr Simran Sidhu (Basic Sciences) and Dr Sukhjit Kaur (Home Science) graced the occasion.
