Ludhiana, September 9, 2015: PAU Retirees' Welfare Association held a general body meeting today in the Students' Home under the presidentship of Jila Ram Bansal. This meeting was attended by more than 150 members and the hall was filled above its capacity. Mr.Satish Sood General Secretary conducted the meeting and said that 6% DA was paid with the pension paid in September. Mr.Sood also told that with the untired efforts of Mr.Narinderpal Singh, Jagga Singh, Kailash Chander, Nitia Nand, Ajit Singh Cheema all the 10 retired employees of the PAU namely Krishan Lal Kalra, Om Pakrash Lohia, Ravel Singh, Naresh Kumari, Prem Singh, Ram Lagan, Joginder Singh, Talk Raj, Smt. Parveen Kumari and Kuldeep Singh were enrolled as honourable members of the association.

President of the Association Mr. Jila Ram Bansal welcomed all the newly enrolled members. These members were honoured with garlands. The members were accompanied by their friends and relatives. Mr. Bansal also highlighted the issues and demands relating to the pensioners and also told that the new demand charter regarding availability of free medicines in the PAU Hospital, Pension Bhawan for the pensioners, improvement in the functioning of the Suvidha Kender and speed-up the clearance of the pending medical bills of the pensioners. He told that the Finance Minister Punjab declared Rs. 3 lacs as cashless medical policy. He promised that the association would get it implemented in the PAU also. Mr. Bansal further touched the issues regarding the diseases for which the treatment in the modern system is not available and he asked the gathering to adopt Ayurveda. Mr. Bansal further told that there is complete treatment of DENGU in the Ayurvedic Granth.

Today's meeting was attended by lady members in large numbers namely Mrs. Balbir Kaur, Sapat Kala, Kusum, Saroj Popli, Seeta Kumari, Shashi, Sushil Malhotra, Ms. Pawan Sharma and two other female pensioners from GADVASU.

The following office bearers attended the meeting namely Charanjit Singh Grewal, HBS Bhatia, Ajit Singh Cheema, Jagga Singh Doabia, Birbal, Joginder Ram, Narinderpal Singh, Gurmukh Singh, T.S. Sangra, RS Rangila, SS Sekhon, Sohan Singh, Kailash Chander, Iqbal Singh, Labh Singh Chehal Tek Singh, Sarveshpal Sharma, Bhagwant Singh.
