PAU INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR INNOVATIVE FARMER AWARDS 2019

Ludhiana, July 9, 2019: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has invited applications from the farmers of Punjab for the Innovative Farmer Awards 2019, to be conferred during the Kisan Mela in September 2019.

Giving details, Dr J.S. Mahal, Director of Extension Education, said S. Dalip Singh Dhaliwal Memorial Award, carrying cash prize of Rs 5,000/- along with plaque and citation, will be bestowed on the self-cultivating farmer of field crops in Punjab. The Parwasi Bharti Award, carrying cash prize of Rs 8,000/- along with plaque and citation, will be presented to the self-cultivating farmer engaged in diversified farming system, he informed. Further, Dr Mahal said, “S. Ujagar Singh Dhaliwal Memorial Award will be conferred on the self-cultivating vegetable grower, who puts at least 60 per cent area of his operational holding under vegetable crops in winter as well as summer seasons. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 3,100/- along with a plaque and citation.” In addition, S. Surjit Singh Dhillon Award, carrying cash prize of Rs 5,000 along with plaque and citation, will be bestowed on the self-cultivating small farmer (having land up to 5 acres), he said. Sardarni Jagbir Kaur Grewal Memorial Innovative Woman Farmer Award will be awarded to the farm woman involved in agriculture and allied agri-enterprises in Punjab, he added. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 3,100/- along with a plaque and citation.

Dr Mahal said the application forms for the awards can be obtained from Deputy Directors (Training) of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Directors of Regional Stations, District Extension Specialists (Senior Most), Chief Agricultural Officers, Deputy Directors of Horticulture in different districts of the state and Directorate of Extension Education, PAU. The last date for the receipt of applications in the office of Director of Extension Education, PAU, is July 15, 2019, he informed. For each award, a separate application will be accepted. Dr Mahal called upon the farmers to apply for the Innovative Farmer Awards 2019 in time.
