PAU ESTABLISHES NEW SCHOOL OF ORGANIC FARMING

Ludhiana, June 1, 2017: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has established a new School of Organic Farming in the University under the College of Agriculture, PAU.

Divulging this information, Dr R.S. Sidhu, Registrar, said the new school aims at carrying out multidisciplinary research, training and extension for the development and dissemination of scientific knowledge on organic and integrated agriculture. It also aims to develop and disseminate integrated nutrient management (INM) and integrate pest management (IPM) strategies for production of safe food and for improvement of natural resources, he added. The objective is also to empower human resources for promotion of organic and integrated agriculture in the state so as to minimize the use of chemicals, he said.

Dr S.S. Kukal, Dean, College of Agriculture, PAU, has assumed the charge of the Director, School of Organic Farming.
