PAU Celebrates Agricultural Education Day

Ludhiana, December 5, 2016: The Department of Extension Education and Communication Management, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) celebrated “Agricultural Education Day” on December 3 at Government Senior Secondary School, Threeke, Ludhiana. The day was celebrated on the birthday of first Union Minister of Agriculture, India and first President of the country, Dr Rajendra Prasad, a Bharat Ratna awardee. Lectures were delivered and slogan writing competition was organized to expose students to various aspects of agriculture and importance of agricultural education in the development of the country. Over 200 students and teachers participated in the programme.

Dr Kanwaljit Kaur, Professor, Department of Extension Education and Communication Management, apprised the students of various educational degree programmes in agriculture and allied subjects. She emphasized the importance of agriculture education in entrepreneurial development. Students were motivated to choose agriculture and allied subjects for professional degree programmes after schooling.

Dr Sukhdeep Kaur Mann, Assistant Professor, sensitized the students about the need for environmental protection and its relation with the agricultural education. The programme was followed by prize distribution to the winners of slogan writing competition.

Mrs Jatinder Kaur, Principal, thanked the PAU authorities for selecting the school for the programme and faculty for an informative talk. She encouraged the students to opt for agriculture as a profession.
